SHIPPING

Chestnuts are perishable and must be kept refrigerated.  They will withstand 3 days in transit under normal conditions.  Do not plan on shipping fresh nuts after you receive them.  Exposure to excessive heat or freezing temperatures can pose problems and you may need to arrange for someone to accept your delivery in these cases. 

Fresh chestnuts are shipped on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday to assure that they arrive fresh.  Wednesday shipments should arrive on Saturday. Other chestnut products can be shipped any day Monday through Friday.  We do not charge your account until we are ready to ship. 

The reliability of USPS Priority Mail allows us to use it year-round.  Even shipments going out the week of Christmas will be at their destination within 2-3 days.  In 2009 we shipped over 3000 orders.  Only 1 order was lost in transit.

Orders within the U.S. that are 10 lbs or less will cost no more than $10.20 using a USPS medium Priority Mail Flat Rate Box.  Orders of 11-15 lbs will be shipped for $13.95 using a large Priority Mail Flat Rate box.  If roasters and gift packs require larger boxes or do not fit in the flat rate boxes they will be shipped at the USPS parcel post rate unless you request otherwise. 

SHIPPING ADDRESSES

Customers are responsible for providing correct addresses.  Shipments returned to us because of insufficient address, incorrect street address, incorrect zip code, lack of a mail box, etc., are the responsibility of the customer and Allen Creek Farm will not issue refunds.  We assume responsibility for damages in transit and for our errors and will replace the product or refund the charges in these cases.

OTHER SHIPPING OPTIONS

Fresh nuts can be shipped UPS Ground in the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.  Other states require UPS 3-Day Select in order to arrive fresh.  Note that UPS does not guarantee delivery date for orders shipped UPS Ground or UPS 3 Day-Select after Dec. 10.

We will accommodate your request for UPS Next Day Delivery.  Please check the rates for this service at http://www.ups.com before requesting.  This can be very expensive.

WEATHER

We cannot be responsible for shipping delays due to weather conditions and assume no responsibility for orders left in your mail box during freezing conditions. 

SHIPPING CHARGES

You pay only the postal charges for shipping.  We do not charge for packaging materials or handling.  We use recycled materials for packing whenever possible.  For shipments NOT using a USPS Flat Rate box the shipping charge will be based on the total weight of the box including up to 2 lbs of packaging materials. 

We ship fresh nuts anywhere in the U.S. and its territories.  Other chestnut products can also be shipped to Europe and Australia.  You can get an estimate of your shipping costs at the USPS website or the UPS website.  UPS rates can vary by the day depending upon the fuel surcharge in effect.  Make sure you indicate that the shipment is originating at Ridgefield with zip code 98642.  Then enter your city and zip and whether it is a residential address.  You will get an estimate of the different types of shipping. 

ADDITIONAL UPS CHARGES

UPS assesses a $10.00 penalty payment for each incorrect address.  Customers giving us an incorrect address will be billed for that charge.  This includes things like wrong number (5829 instead of 5928), wrong street name (Main St., instead of Main Ave.), wrong zip (98643 instead of 98642), leaving off the apartment or suite number, or giving the wrong one.  Please verify the address you give to avoid these extra charges.

RETURN POLICY

If there are problems with your order please notify us within 24 hours of receipt and  we will gladly exchange, give you credit or refund your purchase less shipping charges. Return the items in their original packaging within 10 days of receipt. You are responsible for shipping charges. No returns will be accepted after 10 days.
